Neighborhood units have been dramatically changed and developed over time; however, they are still considered one of the most important platforms for social interactions, communications, and the promotion of collective identity. This study has been conducted to investigate the characteristics of neighborhood units in the old texture of Fasham and the new texture of Meygoon Nou and compare them with Islamic urban planning features and the Western modern period. This is a survey study with a descriptive-analytical approach and applied objective, and data are collected through field technique and researcher-made questionnaire. The statistical society comprised all residents older than 18 living in the old texture of Fasham City and the new texture of Meygoon Nou. Sample size has been measured using Cochrane Formula at a confidence level of 95% and a confidence interval of 7%, which equaled 182 and 196 for the old texture of Fasham and the new texture of Meygoon Nou, respectively. For more accuracy in both areas, 200 members were randomly interviewed. Analysis of data acquired from social surveys was done through inferential statistics (statistical mean values), and indicators were weighed, by using a panel of experts and specialists. The results of this study indicate that the old texture of Fasham has obtained a score of 2.42 (obtained from the sum of statistical mean values of 31 indicators examined in this study for this texture) in terms of measurement indicators of this study. The new texture of Meygoon Nou achieved a score of 2.58 (obtained from the sum of statistical mean values of 31 indicators examined in this study for this texture). Thus, the new texture of Meygoon Nou is more consistent with the principles of the Western modern period (80.56) compared to the old texture of Fasham in terms of measurement indicators of this study. In addition, the old texture of Fasham has almost kept its identity (76.01), and it is more matched with Islamic urban planning features.
