در جوامع معاصر، پیوندهای اجتماعی نقش بنیادینی در انسجام و کنش جمعی ایفا می‌ نمایند، لیکن بخش قابل‌توجهی از این روابط در قالب‌های غیررسمی و فرهنگی شکل می‌گیرند که به‌سختی در چارچوب‌های نظری رایج قابل تحلیل‌اند. در ادبیات سرمایه اجتماعی، غالب رویکردها بر ساختارهای نهادی و مشارکت‌های رسمی متمرکز بوده‌اند و روابط نرم و زمینه‌مند کمتر مورد توجه قرار گرفته‌اند. بدینسان پژوهش حاضر، با هدف ارائه تبیینی نظری از مفهوم «سرمایه اجتماعی سیال» در بستر میراث فرهنگی ناملموس، به شناسایی و تحلیل پیوندهایی می پردازد که در فضاهای آیینی، مناسکی و زیسته تکوین می‌یابند و قابلیت تبدیل به سازوکارهای اعتماد، انسجام و مشارکت اجتماعی را دارند. در این میان مطالعه پیش رو، در صدد پاسخ به پرسش اصلی "سرمایه اجتماعی سیال چگونه در قالب پیوندهای نرم در زمینه‌های فرهنگی تجلی می‌یابد؟"، از روش تحقیق آمیخته (کیفی–کمی)  در سه مرحله بهره می برد. بطوریکه در بخش کیفی، با تحلیل محتوای تطبیقی متون نظری و با بهره‌گیری از نرم‌افزار MAXQDA، چهار مؤلفه بنیادین «اعتماد اجتماعی»، «مشارکت اجتماعی»، «حافظه فرهنگی» و «پویایی‌های زمینه‌ای» استخراج گردید. در بخش کمی، مفاهیم کیفی به شاخص‌های قابل سنجش مبدل گردیده و با بهره مندی از سامانه اطلاعات جغرافیایی (GIS) و تحلیل چگالی کرنل، نقشه‌های مفهومی‌ای از پراکندگی و شدت حضور مؤلفه‌ها در فضاهای فرهنگی ترسیم گردید. یافته‌ها حاکی از آن است که پیوندهای نرم، علی‌رغم ناپایداری ظاهری، واجد ساختارهای معنادار می باشند. بدینسان، سرمایه اجتماعی سیال مستلزم بازنگری در نظریه‌پردازی‌های رایج و اتخاذ رویکردهای میان‌رشته‌ای به منظور درک پیچیدگی‌های فرهنگی در بسترهای غیررسمی می باشد.
