Historical-ritual squares in Iranian cities have long served as settings for the expression of collective memory, religious rituals, and socio-cultural identity. However, processes of modernization and urban development have often disrupted their functions and weakened their symbolic roles. Pir Roudband Square in Dezful represents a unique case where natural, physical, and ritual values converge, yet the space currently faces challenges such as functional disorder, traffic conflicts, and reduced social belonging. This study aims to formulate strategies for regenerating Pir Roudband Square with emphasis on strengthening its identity and collective memory. Using a qualitative and strategic approach based on field observations and previous findings, a SWOT analytical model was applied to identify internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats. The results highlight major weaknesses in ritual functionality and spatial organization but also show potentials rooted in cultural memory and historical identity. Strategies derived from SWOT include redefining the spatial structure in harmony with ritual needs, organizing access routes, reinforcing symbolic elements, improving urban furniture and lighting, and fostering local participation. These measures can restore the cultural and social role of the square and serve as a model for regenerating ritual spaces in other historical urban contexts of Iran.
