Abstract:   (1332 Views)
Since the emergence of the Islamic religion, Bazaar has been one of the main formative aspects of the Islamic city layout and a center of its social life; however, the current position of some of these Bazaars in facing the new requirements of different societies, and consequently, the urban development systems, is not fully determined, leading to their inefficiency and deterioration. Nonetheless, the trading rules in Islam have had meaningful relationships with the economic, socio-cultural, service sector, and managerial mechanisms, as well as with the urban characteristics and their relevant spaces in the Islamic Bazaars. While the pivotal role of Bazaars in the Near East has been the focus of many studies, the notion of Bazaars with respect to the Islamic worldview and its impact on this type of urban spaces has been less investigated. Therefore, the present study has aimed to analyze this notion, from the archival and field data, based on a descriptive-analytical strategy. According to studies, although Islamic Bazaars were formed along the ancient traditions of the conquered lands, the specific requirements of Islamic societies were later embodied and found their special nature over time and found a place beyond the place of trade in the cities. The crystallization of this can be identified in a wide range of functional and physical systems of these Bazaars and its effect on the urban structure. For instance, the necessity of learning Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), in line with the knowledge and expertise needed for payment and transaction method regulations, promoting production, improving the quality of products, as well as heightened spirituality and ethical conduct to establish healthy relationships among merchants, and finally, activity organization and security were all some of the rules and principles that have led to semantic authenticity and sustainability of these structures during different eras. Corresponding to these rules and principles, special physical systems have emerged and evolved in the structure of the Bazaars. In other words, in Islamic bazaars, there is a direct interaction between the category of business with the concepts of science and ethics, and these bazaars have a comprehensive management structure in areas such as: establishing laws, managing and monitoring related activities and spaces, or other internal organizations have been bazaar-oriented. The studies show that the mentioned principles have the ability to interact with the main elements of the new guidelines of world heritage management (legal, institutional and resource framework) and can be in order to prevent unprincipled interventions with the approach of only physical protection in Islamic bazaars (regardless of the existential mission), each of its components was used and created a favorable environment for the dynamic protection of tangible and intangible values in this type of property. To preserve the rich concepts and values hidden within Islamic bazaars for future generations, it is necessary to focus on restoring their original activities and spaces, improving the quality of life and social status, and organizing the environment of Islamic cities. By doing so, we can ensure that the heritage of these cities is protected and passed down to current and future generations.
