The perception of urban space today predominantly relies on visual data, since other environmental sensory stimuli often fail to engage the mind and psyche of users effectively. This research operates on the assumption that integrating stimuli that foster a multi-sensory experience can significantly enhance the quality and richness of urban environments. The study aims to explore methods for improving urban space quality by enriching the sensory experience, making it accessible and engaging for diverse social groups, ages, gender groups, and individuals with disabilities. This qualitative research focuses on Hosam Alley in Rudsar City. The research process begins by identifying various environmental sensory stimuli using a phenomenological approach. It subsequently establishes criteria for evaluating the quality of these stimuli at three distinct levels. Based on the third-level criteria, a Likert scale questionnaire is developed. The study employs field observations, sensory surveys, interviews, and questionnaires to assess the quality and impact of sensory stimuli in Hosam Alley. Findings indicate that the alley's rich sensory stimuli contribute to high user satisfaction, enhancing qualities such as tranquility, safety, and imaginative unity of the space. Among the sensory stimuli, gustatory elements are found to be the most effective, followed by haptic, auditory, olfactory, muscular, and visual stimuli. To further enhance the sensory experience in Hosam Alley, several strategies are recommended. These include improving connections between alleys and main passages, enhancing lighting in darker areas, reducing traffic noise, and ensuring appropriate flooring for both pedestrian and visually impaired movement. Additionally, organizing varied activities at different times can foster a more engaging and inclusive urban environment. Collectively, these strategies aim to transform Hosam Alley into a vibrant, multi-sensory space that invites and delights all users, ultimately enhancing the overall urban experience.
